Freestyle Young dancers waltz off with 100 trophies (28.11.13- Bristol Post)

 

TWENTY-five children and teenagers from a Bristol dance school returned from a European dance championship with 27 titles and more than 100 trophies.The freestyle dancers from Style Dance Academy in Warmley who took part in the competition, which took place at Prestatyn in North Wales at the weekend, did up to ten hours a week training in preparation.As well as their normal training schedule at Kingswood Creative Youth Network and The Grange Secondary School in Warmley, each dancer also had private tuition on their individual solo routines to practise their stamina, flexibility and technique.The group also worked hard to fund- raise the costs involved in attending the European Freestyle Championships by bag-packing in various Bristol supermarkets and other activities.Each dancer had a unique costume covered in thousands a Swarovski crystals designed to suit their individual personality and style in an attempt to catch the judges' eye. They performed routines to remixed chart music and contemporary slow ballads.All of the practice paid off as the team won more than 100 trophies, including 27 wins and many more top three places.Teachers, including Richard and Lisa Dyke, Sammy Jo Gough and Victoria Smith, said: "We are extremely proud of all the children's recent achievements at the European Championships and hope their great success continues in future competitions."Winners included Tilly Bushell, Ellis Trohear, Jessie Winter-Alsop, Melanie West, Zoe Orchard, Hollie Pring, Layah Bushell and Ashley Winter-Alsop.The training now continues for the biggest competition of the year – Disco Kid held at Blackpool Tower Ballroom this weekend.

Dance Students Win European Honours (07.11.13- The Week In)

Students of the Style Dance Academy, which holds classes atThe Grange School in Warmley and at the Kingswood CreativeYouth Network, recently returned from the EuropeanChampionships in North Wales with a haul of more than 100trophies. The children, aged between seven and 18, took part in anumber of different categories, winning outright in 27 of them. Among the champions to emerge from the Prestatyn tournament were Tilly Bushell, Ellis Trohear, Jessie Winter, Melanie West, Zoe Orchard, Hollie Pring, Layah Bushell, and Ashley Winter. Style Dance Academy specialise in Freestyle Disco & Contemporary Slow Dance.

THEIR amazing haul of trophies from a European dance championship just goes to show that hard work, preparation and plenty of practice can pay dividends.Because you only achieve that level of success if you are dedicated and well led.And they may pick up yet more trophies when they head to Blackpool in a couple of days.
